Nikolai Nikov - Nicheto

Nikolay Nikov - Nicheto was born on September 1, 1924 in Sofia. He graduated from the Italian High School. He was accepted to study Painting in Dechko Uzunov's studio at the National Academy of Arts, but after a few semesters he moved to the Graphics major in the class of Prof. Veselin Staykov and graduated in 1948.
He participated in general art exhibitions with painting and graphics. He worked for a short time in "Art" magazine. He is a member of the artistic council at the Center for New Goods and Fashion. He exhibited his works in the former USSR, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Tunisia, Bermuda, Paris, Bern, etc. In 1969 he received an award from the SBH. He held solo exhibitions in Sofia (1964. 1968. 1981) and in Gabrovo (1971. graphics). His works can be found in the National Gallery of Art, the National Gallery of Art, the City Gallery in Burgas, and in private collections.
A favorite theme in Nicheto's graphic work is the urban landscape. His paintings, done in oil and watercolor, are in the field of still life, landscape, nude and composition. Characteristic of the early creative period of the artist are the compositions with figures, executed by specific stylization of shapes and colors. Later, his art was captured by the theme of Paris, and at the end of Nicheto's creative and life path, vases with flowers occupy a dominant place in his canvases.
Nikolay Nikov - Nicheto is among the most colorful representatives of the Sofia bohemia of the 60s and 70s of the last century. He died in 1989.
