Nikola Stefanov Popov is the first Bulgarian graphic artist to receive academic training after the Liberation. He is the winner of the gold Füger medal - the highest honor of the Vienna Academy of Arts and is the only representative of Bulgaria in the "Engraving and Lithography" section of the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900.
