Born on November 24 in Plovdiv with the baptismal name Alexander-Stefan, as the fifth child in the family of Ivan and Silvina Lavrenovi, a Catholic family with a certain contribution to the diverse cultural and social life.

1907-1916

He studied at the French College "St. Augustin" in Plovdiv.

1916-1917

Аs a student, he printed cartoons in "Bulgaran" magazine under the pseudonym "Loran"

1917

Graduated from the School for Reserve Officers in Knyazhevo.

1918-1920

He works in his father's manufacturing shop in Plovdiv.

1920-1922

In Vienna, he attended the private painting school "St. Anna” and an evening act drawing at the Academy of Applied Arts (Kunstgewerbeschule).

1921

Expresses his views on art in his answers to the famous Literary survey of the magazine Vezni, no. 15, year III, 1921-1922, with editor Geo Milev.

1922

He is involved in tobacco production. 1923 First participation in the exhibition of the Society of South Bulgarian Artists in Plovdiv with eight paintings selected by the secretary of the society, the artist Vitko Babakov. Accepted as a member of the society.

1923-1924

An active participant in the activities of the Plovdiv House of Arts and Printing with the chairman Nikolay Rainov.

1925

He traveled to Italy - Rome, Venice, Florence, Assisi on the occasion of the "holy year" of the Catholic world. Audience with the Pope.

1926

May 1 – 10: First exhibition of the Babakov – Dechev – Lavrenov group, organized by the House of Arts and Printing. Until 1929, five more joint exhibitions followed in Plovdiv, Chirpan and Pazardzhik.

1927

Participation in a competition for anniversary stamps. Received First Prize for his St. Kliment Ohridski" and "Father Paisii". At the First Group Art Exhibition in Sofia, he exhibited the works "Final", "May Song", "One Life".

1928

Design artist at the State Printing House in Sofia.

1929

On September 29, on the occasion of the IV Congress of Archaeological Societies in Bulgaria and together with Danail Dechev and Nyagul Stanchev, he organized an exhibition "Antiquities of Art Preserved in Plovdiv Families" and published studies for it in the Yearbook of the Plovdiv Library and Museum, 1928-1929.

1930

At the IV OHI, he shows the painting "Old Plovdiv", purchased by the Ministry of Public Education. In 1934, the painting won First Prize at the competition "Most beautiful painting with a plot from Plovdiv".

1935-1936

Travel around Greece - Thessaloniki, Athos, Athens. The impressions of the monasteries of Mount Athos will leave a bright mark in his work.

1936

Participated in the International Wood Engraving Exhibition in Warsaw.

1937

Participated in the World Exhibition in Paris.

1939

Joint exhibition with Danail Dechev in Plovdiv. He settled in Sofia.

1941-1942

He painted in Ohrid, Bitola, Skopje, Prilep and Veles.

1941

Participated in the representative traveling exhibition of Bulgarian art in Germany, Austria and Hungary. Together with a group of artists, he was invited to the opening in Berlin.

1942

Participation in the Venice Biennale.

1943

First prize at the "Kurshum Khan" competition in Plovdiv, won with the paintings by the same name.

1946

Two first prizes for anniversary stamps "St. Ivan Rilski".

1951

He works in the City Museum of the National Academy of Sciences - today the Sofia City Art Gallery.

1958

Joint exhibition with Vladimir Dimitrov –Maystora in Liège, Belgium.

1964-1965

Solo exhibitions in Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, West Berlin.

1967

Solo exhibition in Moscow.

1976

Jubilee exhibition in Plovdiv, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the artist.

1978

He died on October 18 in Sofia.

 

Author of monographs of the artists - Veselin Staykov (1955), Elisaveta Konsulova-Vazavo (together with Binka Vazavo, 1956), Zlatyu Boyadzhiev (1958), the memoir "On the Steep Path" (1968) and a large number of studies and articles on of art. Honored with the titles "Honored Artist" (1952), "People's Artist" (1954). Winner of the Dimitrov Prize (1968) and Hero of Socialist Labor (1969).
