Ivan Hristov

Ivan Hristov was born on January 19, 1900 in Vidin. In 1925, he graduated in painting at the State Art Academy, Sofia, in the class of Prof. Nikola Ganushev and Prof. Nikola Marinov. He specialized in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. After his return, he started working as a teacher in Tryavna. Since 1943 he has been a freelance artist. He spends every summer in Veliko Tarnovo to paint his picturesque landscapes, inspired by the architecture of the old capital city. His works from this period, in contrast to his early works, are characterized by a more saturated color, worked with an impulsive swing. The blue-green range enriched with earthy pastel tones is preferred.
